The best that could happen is that my students would learn notes, rhythm, music history, technique, and posture that not only affects their music playing but also touches their families and stays with them throughout their lives. I do not just teach for today or for tomorrow, but in the hopes that the lessons will linger for many years to come.

The best thing that could happen in my studio is that my students hone their "toolbox" of practice strategies, leading to further progress in making beautiful music! Inspired by Christine Goodner's "rules for practice" poster, we are talking this semester about which parts of practice pose the biggest struggle, and how to overcome them.

We start classes this Tuesday at a wonderful church that we are partnering with as a part of their Community Arts program. The amount of work to set everything up is unbelievable, not to mention the expenses! Wish us luck! thank you!

The best that can happen... That I am able to meet each student where they are and help them on their musical journey (which will spill over into other areas of their lives), that we continue to build a warm, supportive, energetic community of families in the studio as well as of teachers in our area, that I am able to practice and perform more this year now that my kids are no longer babies so I am as inspired and motivated as I want my students to be, and long-term, that my studio eventually grows into a school!

My “best” would take the shape of helping my students to embrace the hard work and dedication that comes with learning music. To help them to see, and take ownership of their accomplishments as they grow both as musicians and as human beings. And most of all, to have the seeds planted within them so they will keep growing as confident, open-hearted souls who are able to believe in themselves and use their light and love to keep the world going ‘round.
